Cravasse Rescue
This course introduces the essential skills required for safe, independent travel in glaciated terrain. Students learn the fundamentals of glacier mountaineering, including crevasse rescue techniques and the core movement skills needed to navigate complex glacier environments. The curriculum is designed for climbers looking to gain confidence on glaciers and prepare for future ascents of Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, and other glaciated peaks.
Can be taken as a 1 day refresher/quick run through or as a 2 day more in-depth course along with how to travel on a glacier. Building on the foundational skills taught throughout the course, students will practice rope‑team travel, hazard recognition, and rescue systems in realistic training scenarios. The emphasis is on developing sound judgment, efficient technique, and the ability to problem‑solve in glaciated environments. This course is an ideal entry point for anyone seeking to expand their mountaineering skill set and open the door to larger alpine objectives.
