Baker showcases stunning views of the snow-capped summits of the Cascade Range. It's a perfect destination for those starting their mountaineering journey and is often considered the best glacier training location in the United States. This summit climb covers the basics of glacier mountaineering, including ice axe use, self-arrest, glacier travel, and rope techniques and will help prepare you for more advanced climbs, like Rainier.  Because fitness plays a major role in alpine success, we encourage climbers to train consistently in the months leading up to their trip.
